13 November 2020 A Message from Hot Springs County Health Officer Vernon Miller, M.D.

As everyone is probably aware, Wyoming is experiencing an unprecedented increase in cases of COVID-19. Over the last several weeks the Wyoming County Health Officers have been studying this and have asked Governor Gordon for a state mask mandate.  The Wyoming Medical Society and Wyoming Hospital Association have joined in this request.

It is vital that we keep all our businesses and schools open and our activities attended.  Increased use of face coverings will help with this going forward.  This is one of the few weapons we have in the fight against this virus until we have an effective vaccine and more effective treatments.

Vernon W. Miller, M.D.

Please see the following letter to The Honorable Mark Gordon from the Wyoming County Health Officers, Wyoming Medical Society and the Wyoming Hospital Association

Incident Management Team Situation Report November 12, 2020 at 4:45pm

Reminder, Situation Reports will be posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless urgent information becomes necessary.

NOTICE - Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Wyoming Department of Health announced 13 additional coronavirus-related deaths and more than 1,000 new confirmed cases, both of which are the most in a SINGLE DAY.  Thirty-seven deaths had been announced in all of October.  Prior to that, the state had never announced more than 13 in a single month. There have now been 40 coronavirus-related deaths reported so far in November, making it Wyoming’s deadliest month after only 10 days, 13 people died in the last week alone.  There are now 183 coronavirus patients hospitalized in Wyoming as of Nov. 12.

17 of the 19 ICU beds at Wyoming Medical Center are full. No ICU beds available at Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Medical Center or Sage West in Lander.
Gov. Mark Gordon, County Health Officers, health care providers, public health, urge the state’s residents to wear masks.  Fact: Masks prevent the spread of COVID-19…if they’re worn.

Governor Gordon has released the Fifteenth Continuation of Statewide Public Health Orders. These orders are effective November 1 through November 15.  There is one minor change, to the gymnasium provisions. Patrons (not just staff) can now clean equipment after use.
